Bunk Beds Aren't Bunk - They're Awesome!

!±8± Bunk Beds Aren't Bunk - They're Awesome!

If you live in a college dorm, you know that saving space is a major concern. You're going to need space for your books, a desk, and of course, room for your friends for all those 'Animal House' parties you plan to throw. Then you have the sleeping arrangements. That queen size bed takes up a lot of space, and on top of that, you have that roommate who likes to sleep in the nude. Definitely not a situation you want to be stuck with over the semesters. What are you to do? Well the answer may be simple. A Bunk Bed!

Now I know what you're thinking: "Why should I own a bunk bed? I'm not 10 years old anymore!" Well, you might be (even if only at heart). But even if you're not, do you really want to be stuck in the situation illustrated above? Above all else, they are an economical way to save space and money.

Having a roommate or even two can be great fun for any or all students. However, finding a place for everyone to sleep can be a daunting task, especially within the minimalist confines of dorm rooms these days. Thankfully, with the help of a bunk bed, you can make room for everyone who lives in your dorm. They take up very little floor space, and allow two to sleep comfortably without having to share or fight over the blanket. Have two roommates? No worries, just pick up one of the versions with a trundle unit. This way, three people can sleep comfortably at night (and still have enough room to party hard during the day).

We now know that these beds are great for saving floor space, but how about money? I mean, you undoubtedly work hard evenings and weekends to pay for tuition and on-campus housing. What would be the point of going on and on about how great bunk beds are if finding an affordable one is an impossible mission? Lucky for us, there is a point as finding an affordable bed is easy. Many furniture manufacturers and retailers offer sturdy, high quality beds at rock bottom prices. It's not hard to find one that will accommodate two or three people under 0. A bargain if your roommates (especially if the one who takes your food without asking) all chip in.

What if you don't have roommates, but still have very little floor space? Consider a loft bed. These seem like typical bunk beds, although the bottom area is open and commonly used as a workstation for writing that A+ report (on why bunk beds are awesome).

Finally, just for your benefit, I thought I'd let you in on other options available to you. First off, the futon. These ingenious contraptions are equipped with a bottom bunk that can fold from a full-sized mattress to a couch. Second, a twin-over-full bunk bed fits a full-sized mattress at the bottom bunk and a twin-sized mattress on the upper bunk. Finally, for those who actually live in a large enough dorm room but still have that roommate who likes to sleep naked, a queen sized bunk bed may be what you want.

So there you have it! Now you're equipped with all the information you need to have a good night's sleep, to have enough room to work on those all important reports, and of course, party like it's 1999 (they did party harder back then). So the next time you need a new bed for your dorm room, don't be skeptical about bunk beds. They're not bunk, they're awesome!

Bunk Loft Beds Make Small Spaces Seem Large Enough

!±8± Bunk Loft Beds Make Small Spaces Seem Large Enough

Essentially, bunk loft beds are a form of bunk bed that contains only a top bunk. In other words, there is an open space beneath the top bunk and this space can then be utilized in different ways including to place a chest or adds some drawers or even creates a work space. Such features help to make bunk loft beds very efficient in making full use of small amounts of free space which can be utilized in different ways to suit your convenience and needs.

There are different varieties of bunk loft beds including those which have trundle/stowable beds which can be removed to make place for containing drawers as well as a workstation. Costs of these and other forms of loft beds vary and some are more unaffordable because they have additional features such as built-in storage as well as a number of other useful features.

These kinds of beds are most useful in homes where there is limited space. In such instances, making full use of every inch of space is a necessity that can best be served with the addition of loft bunk beds. Furthermore, appropriately chosen loft bunk beds will also provide joy to the children, provided the beds have certain features.

For example, the loft bed should have enough free space beneath the bed to install a television set or personal computer. In addition, the free space below the bunk bed can also be used for creating a mini study area in which a study table as well as shelf for school books can be used to add some much needed functionality.

Other than using the free space for entertainment and work, it is also possible to use the space to build a toy house and even for placing a kids railway system and it can also be used by girls for dressing up their dolls. Such features helps in making the space uncluttered and it also helps in removing toys and other objects from the floor that would otherwise possibly have led to slipping and causing potentially serious injuries.

Small spaces do not allow for crowding and if you have two or three children that have to sleep in a small bedroom then only the addition of bunk loft beds can help solve the problem of limited spaces. These beds will help in making even a tiny quarter look sufficiently large and because there are so many options available, you will not have much trouble in finding the right kind of bed.

There are, for example, triple loft bunk beds available that are an ideal solution for kids rooms and even for dormitories as well as for use in studio apartments in which three people have to live together. Such triple beds will provide space conservation solutions as well as a chance for so many people to live together and sleep together in considerable degree of comfort.

Triple bunk loft beds are a combination of two and even three bunk style beds that are combined into just one loft. Mostly, such beds are made in an L shaped design in which a pair of beds will be arranged one on top of the other and the third bed is built under the elevated space. These beds are certainly designed to maximize space and allow a small crowd to coexist with each other without too much inconvenience.

Bunk Beds, Bunk Bed Futons and Loft Beds - What's the Difference?

!±8± Bunk Beds, Bunk Bed Futons and Loft Beds - What's the Difference?

Parents buy Bunk Bed Futons, standard Bunk Beds, and Loft Beds because kids love them! Here's how these three types of beds are different.

Futon Bunk Beds

Futons with Bunk Beds typically include a twin bunk bed above and a full-size futon sofa below. You can use the futon bunk bed below as a sofa by day and as a bed at night. Futon bunk beds are front operating, so there is no need to pull the entire bunk bed away from the wall. Just fold out the futon sofa underneath with the sheets already tucked under the futon cover.

Futon bunk beds give kids a sense of adventure. Kids use them for sleepovers when little friends stay the night. With sleeping space to accommodate three small people (twin above, double below), it is easy to accommodate small guests.

Parents use futon bunk beds so two children can share a bedroom more easily than separate twin beds allow. The upper bunk is usually for the older child.

Make the most of limited floor space by transforming the couch into a bed when you are finished reading to your children before bed - one of the best habits you can introduce as a parent. Fold the couch back in the morning and they will have more space to spread out projects on the floor, build make-believe worlds with little figures, or enjoy books on the comfy sofa.

Safety First!

Be sure to choose any type of Bunk Bed with the top bunk completely surrounded by sturdy double rails to prevent accidents. Many Bunk Bed Futons come in unfinished pine so there is no gorgeous finished wood surface for the little play hammer to ruin. You can stain or finish it or just leave it as is for a pale wood look that will keep a room light and bright. Do yourselves a favor while your kids are little. Buy bunks that they can't ruin!

Loft Beds

Loft Beds have a twin bed above and an open space below that provides extra floor space or room for separate piece of furniture, like a love seat sofa, a desk, or a play stand. Older kids put their computer workstations here!

Provide a table surface below and younger kids now have a play space in an otherwise small room (Let's face it! They get the smallest room in the house). They can park their train set, doll house, Legos, or construct any other make-believe world without having to disassemble it each night. Better yet, parents don't have to step on all those little pieces previously on the floor!

Standard Bunk Beds

Standard bunk beds have the traditional format -- one twin size bed above and one twin size bed below. Each family has its own needs to satisfy, so there's something for everyone! Nothing folds out; both beds are fixed twin beds.

With many standard bunk beds, you have the advantage of using the bunk bed as a twin bunk (that is, using both beds) while kids are little and are sharing a room, but later as a loft bed for one child. When kids get older and move to separate rooms, the bunk bed can be converted to a loft bed for one! All you do is remove the base of the lower bunk, turn the back rail toward the wall, re-attach it to the sides, and voila! -- A loft bed!

Summary of Futon Bunk Beds, Loft Beds, and Standard Bunk Beds

So now you know that a futon bunk bed is two beds, the bottom being a futon. The standard bunk bed has two twin beds -- above and below. And the loft bed has one bed above and an open space below.

Mattress Protectors

For little ones, don't forget mattress protectors so little incidents don't become big incidents. Mattress protectors protect your mattresses from bedwetting issues by providing a moisture-proof barrier over the mattress. They also provide allergy protection with a barrier that dust mites and other bugs cannot penetrate if they're already in the mattress. Mattress protectors are easily laundered and replaced on the bed.

Bunk Beds - The Best Way to Maximize Your Living Space

!±8± Bunk Beds - The Best Way to Maximize Your Living Space

Gone are the days when no particular consideration was given by parents to perfectly furnish their kids' room. While majority of parents now give appreciable attention to their kids' room, the common problem they all face is the dearth of quality living space to accommodate all the furniture. A feasible solution to this problem is neat and appropriate stacking of this furniture while ensuring that even after being stacked they serve their purpose.

Beds are the outcome of one such stacking. beds have two or more bed frames stacked on top of one another. Hence, appropriate installment of bunk beds maximizes floor space leading to a wide usage at places as university residence halls, dormitories, hostels and especially as kids' beds.

Bunk are easily available in a wide variety of materials and designs. Generally used bunk are the metal beds with same size of mattresses on all the bunks. In case more than two bunks are required, triple lindy loft beds are used which have total three beds.

Loft Beds

Loft beds are a variation of bunk beds in which the top bunk is the while the lower space is used as work area usually occupied by a study table or similar furniture. Some loft beds even have trundle beds which retain the capability to contain workstations and drawers.

Wood loft beds are the common type of loft available. Retrofits to wooden loft beds can be easily done at home; hence the workspace can be modified conveniently as per need. Expensive loft have built-in storage capacities and other accessories.

Futon

Bunk beds having a on the top bunk and a futon on the lower are called futon beds. The futon has a double sized mattress compared to the bed which allows it to be folded and used as a couch in daytime while expanded again for use as sleeping space. Futon are usually a choice for teenagers who require both: a couch and a bed to facilitate sleepovers with friends.

Safety Measures

On one hand where bunk beds and its variations help optimal utilization of space in living rooms, on the other they also pose injury threats owing to improper installations, lack of attention on their frame, and boisterous behavior.

•Bunk beds and especially kids' bunk should conform to the American Standards of Testing Materials (ASTM) for bunk beds.

•Also it should be ensured that ceiling fans are not installed in rooms with beds or at a considerable safe distance from the bunks.

•The guard railings should be properly fitted on both side of the bed.

Beds can be purchased at a convenient price from the vast available economic range. Those having moderate prices lack certain accessories as drawers or chests which can be overlooked if not required much.

Loft Bed Frames Allow You To Use Every Inch Of Your Floor Space

!±8± Loft Bed Frames Allow You To Use Every Inch Of Your Floor Space

It is a well-established fact that modern set ups require modern bed frames, but choosing such frames is not an easy task. There are such a lot to choose from. Generally, such bed frames like all other modern style of furniture are marked by clean lines. Their beauty does not lie in ornamentations or carving, but in the novelty of their designs and clever use of different material and color schemes. Look online for different kinds of modern bed frames and you will know for yourself.

No purchase can be successful without some kind of market research. Therefore, keep looking around for different models of frames for some time even if you think you have found the one you wanted. Who knows if some thing better is not waiting for you in the wings? Now that everything is sold online, shopping around has become quite easy. You no longer have to go from shop to shop, searching through their catalogues for the right design. You can now do that from the comfort of your home in your own time.

As I have already said, the beauty of the modern bed frames lies in the clever use of different materials. Bed frames today are made not only from wood or metal, but also from leather or even synthetic materials. Often, these materials are cleverly amalgamated to produce a stunning result. Different shades of color are also used to enhance such an effect. In all, there is a use variety to choose from and you can only make the correct choice if you know your mind.

First, decide for what purpose you are buying the bed frame. There can be three possibilities. Either you can buy it for the master bedroom, or for the children's bedroom or it may be for the guestroom. If it is for the master bedroom, the style of frame should complement your temperament. Remember, a bed is something that one is sure to notice as one enters the room. Therefore, it should not only be comfortable to sleep on, but also warm and inviting to look at. However, what you find inviting entirely depends upon your disposition and so keep that in mind while making the final purchase.

As for the kids' bedroom, it depends on a number of factors. Let us go into that now:

Is the room just for one child or is it going to be shared by more than one? What is the age of the child/children who will be using the room? How big is the room? Is there enough space for other furniture that the child/children will require? How much free space is required for other activities?

If the room is big enough the choice of bed frame becomes easy. Choose one from the galaxy of modern bed frames available today. However, if the space short, you need to think differently. Bunk bed is a good choice if there is more than one child. Only make sure that the upper bunk has side rails to prevent children from falling off. Loft bed frames are also another alternative. These beds are like bunk beds with the lower bunker missing.

Lofts bed frames are useful when the space is very small or if you want to leave larger floor space. With the loft bed installed, you can use the space under it for as many purposes as you please. You may set up the study table under the table or make cozy sitting arrangement for him/her to listen to music or read storybooks. Cupboards with right height can be put there as well. Alternatively, you can leave the space just empty - creating a play area of sort.

However, most of the loft bed-frames come with study tables and racks fitted under it. In fact, if you buy a workstation loft bed, you will have a bed frame and work station all fitted into one. That is why it is said that you must undertake a market research before selecting any frame. Otherwise, you will be loser. However, too much shopping around may spell trouble for some. This may make them more confused. That is why it is best to find out what you want and then look for it. That way you are less likely to become confused.

Four Ways Childrens Bunk Beds Solve Decorating Problems

!±8± Four Ways Childrens Bunk Beds Solve Decorating Problems

Kids have always loved bunk beds because their imaginations easily turn a space-saving sleeping arrangement into tents, castles, and pirate ships. Today's Childrens Bunk Beds provide the original advantages and many new ones. If you are considering redecorating your kids' rooms and want a practical, stylish solution, here are four reasons you should consider these beds:

1. They are Made in a Variety of Materials

Many parents choose pine, oak, or even plywood bunk beds because wooden bunk beds tend to be light and sturdy. They are also decorative in their natural colors or can be painted to match a room. Bunk beds are also made in metal, which can add an interesting look. Metal beds are also less expensive, but not as sturdy as wooden ones.

2. These Beds Save Space

If you have a small room to work with or need to create a comfortable bedroom for two or more children, bunks allow you to utilize valuable vertical space. You can use the traditional top-and-bottom twin bed style or a larger bottom bed and twin top. There are also designs which provide a loft instead of a top bed. You might also choose beds with built-in storage, or a trundle bed. As children grow it is even possible to convert a bottom bunk into a desk area.

3. You Can Create a Designer Bedroom

Today's Childrens Bunk Beds offer design options to fit any decorating theme. Besides a range of colors and styles, you have a choice of interesting ladders, steps and rails. It is possible to configure beds in many ways other than the traditional double-stacked twin beds. They can include a bed over a futon, a computer area, or even a complete workstation.

4. Bunk Beds Can Provide Practical Fun

Despite the many ways that Childrens Bunk Beds save space and money, their biggest attraction is still the fun factor. You can create an entire theme around the beds by mixing and matching accessories. Additions such as colorful steps, drawers, desks and tents can change a room's look and create a play space kids will love.

Bunk beds have lost none of their kid appeal over the years. The only thing that's changed is that now parents have more reasons to love Childrens Bunk Beds as much as their kids do.

Loft Bed Frame - A Quick Guide to the Different Designs Available

!±8± Loft Bed Frame - A Quick Guide to the Different Designs Available

The loft bed frame is a great way to maximise the space in your kids room. If you currently have a standard bed then you will be amazed by the extra space you can get with a loft bed.

The loft bed frame comes in three basic styles. Below is a quick guide to these to get you started on your search.

Loft bed with storage
For very small bedrooms this is a clever solution to your storage problems. The bed is high, not as high as a top bunk bed, but high enough to have a comprehensive set of drawers underneath it.

Loft bed with desk and seat
This is a good solution for a child's room. Underneath the bed there is a small desk or workstation, and next to it is a chair. The chair will usually be a pull out which will convert into a spare single bed. Due to the small size of the work station a swivel stool is often sold with these.

Loft bed with large workstation
This is great for older kids as the work area is significantly bigger and will allow for a computer or laptop and still leave room for books. This increase work area is at the cost of the chair. It also means that the desk chair can be a larger option as well, which will be more comfortable, especially important if your kids is at the age when they will be doing a lot of homework.

All of these are great solutions. The storage choice is unfortunately not as much fun as the others and kids will be less inspired by it, but if it will free up some space in their room they will probably be quiet pleased with it.

The two choices with a desk are almost guaranteed to be a hit with the kids as it gives them their own space. If you are undecided between the two different desk designs then, if you have the space, the best choice would be the larger work station and then add a futon chair bed to the room. This means that there will still be a chair for reading, a spare bed for friends and you will not have to compromise on the work space.

Which ever loft bed frame you choose be sure to buy from a reputable company so that you are getting a well made piece of furniture as well as a good design.
